"Non vitrage IV"

Fiber collage on burlap painted with acrylics, water colors and markers.

I just updated my website with images of my new series of artworks "Non vitrage". The name self imposed itself because the artwork reminds me of stained glass windows, although my inspiration for the series didn't come from it.

"Dark sea"

I loved you in the purple sunset
embraced you
like you're my son,
felt you
like a good old
well known taste
but still undetermined,
all was known
when I was with you
and yet
there was a trace of unknown, still...

Our time
vanished away sadly,
and instead of offering it
to each other
we poured it
into another dimension
which we had chosen
unaware of the reality...

Now we are stuck under piles of
cruel and sticky
everlasting presence
of countless rings of memories...

I still remember
silvery moonshine
spread over
the shimmering dark sea,
and us walking,
listening to the music
from a little cafe in the bay...

all I know is
I'll meet you there again....

"Karlovac" ACEO

This is an original mixed media ACEO.

"Karlovac" is a part of ongoing series of ACEO's with monogram themes, created in June 2009.

Prismacolor Marker drawing on a fine-textured transparent Canson tracing paper mounted over recycled phone book page on Strathmore acid free 300 Bristol paper 100 lb, painted with acrylic. Embellished with Croatian postal stamp and markers.

Karlovac is a Croatian city build in 16 century.
Karlovac used to be known in Croatia as 'grad parkova' (the city of parks) and 'grad na četiri rijeke' (the town on four rivers) for its numerous green areas and four rivers, of which the Mrežnica, the Korana and the Kupa flow through built-up areas, and the Dobra is a few kilometers outside the city centre. These designations are now somewhat forgotten, but the beauty of the nature remains.

"My mind"

My mind is ripe,
My thoughts densely filled
Like black seeds nested
In orange silkiness of papaya
Trying to follow the path
Between the shadows of
My past lives
At least, that's how it seems,
All that existed before us...
I lost my way,
Left my reality,
Somewhere behind me,
Walking and holding hands with
Your shadow...
Silence is speaking many languages,
And finally one is becoming
Awakening sound to my ears...

"Blushed field III"

Acrylic painted fiber collage on burlap with glass beads and acrylic yarn.

We should walk and run in the fields of flowers instead of concrete sidewalks. I love nature, and I dislike (living in Florida) all the usage of pesticides, fertilizers and all the chemicals that people use to maintain their landscapes here. Yes, everything is lush and green and pleasing to the eyes, but there is a serious downfall to it. Poisoning the wild life, and seriously affecting the water quality, just to name some.

"Passion flowers II"

Acrylic painted burlap with hand stitched recycled sari silk yarn.

One of the main ideas behind my fusion artwork is to present embroidery in a new, fresh way and bigger scale than usual, traditional approach . I grew up doing all different styles of embroidery, sewing, knitting and crocheting, mainly following patterns. Around my fortieth birthday, I decided to take a different path and use all my knowledge implementing it in a new way, my way, my style of artwork.

"Cabaret II"

One of a kind, wearable art cuff.
It's hand stitched and embellished by seed beads, glass beads and embroidery thread, applied over felt and tulle.

"Night and day V"

Wearable art cuff.
It's hand stitched and embellished by seed, glass, vintage beads and pearls. I used felt and organza fabric.

I love taking pictures of jewelry in my backyard. Living in Florida has the advantage of enjoying the greenery all year long. Since my husband's hobby is a gardening, there are plenty of beautiful plants around our house for me to chose for photo shoots.

"Enchanting fall"

The necklace is made out of various sizes seed beads, glass, vintage beads, and silk.

I started making jewelry when I was in elementary school.
My mother had a stash of Czech seed beads that she inherited from her Czech grandmother. There weren't any bead supplies stores back then in Zagreb (it was still Yugoslavia, before splitting in 1991). I loved the fact that I can wear my own unique jewelry, my design, and nobody else has the same.
So many years after, I still love the same idea, and I still wear my own jewelry, and accessories.
