Evening beauties

Here are a few more samples of my fiber art necklace series. They're all listed in my Etsy store.
The tutorial on how to make them will be featured in the next issue of the Belle Armoire Jewelry Magazine, coming out on September 1st.

Morning beauties

Last week I worked on my fiber art necklace series. Here are three of them just listed in my Etsy shop.
The theme is exploring monochromatic fiber collages. Each one is unique, since I'm using a variety of fabrics, some vintage with a limited quantity, and the same with my bead collection.

I like making them, and I truly didn't  expect I would spend all last week just working on them and neglecting painting, but once I started it was quite addictive and the final finished number is 11. I'll be photographing and listing them through the week.

Here are two more finished pieces from the Fragments series.
I have a few more 20x20 in the works on my studio desk. I'm planning to work on a 24x24 size next, before I embark on any bigger sizes, since I'm still in an experimental phase. It has been fun so far, and really enjoyable painting on wood panels.

Floral fantasy and untitled

This piece was on the side burner in my studio while I was painting a series of abstracts. I would go back and forth, touching up and tweaking  the flowers.
I usually collect a whole bunch of finished artwork before I embark on the final stage and spend a few hours on the porch varnishing them. Today is a picture taking day, editing, naming and cataloging...

Floral fantasy 20x20

Here are some of the abstracts that I'm planning to deliver to the Gallery 17.92 by the end of the week.
They're done on cradled wood panels with paper and fiber collage, painted with acrylic, watercolor, markers and embellished with stamps and beads.
I'm trying to think of the name for this series, but no luck so far.
Any ideas?

These are detailed close ups of the last two paintings:

Art cards

How many times do you get an idea, and then if you don't do it right away or write it down in a while it's gone, lost in a sea of unrealized ideas forever?
I was painting yesterday, listening to the radio, and got this idea for a series of art cards.
I had to stop painting, wash my brushes and create them. It is always sad to me how many postal stamps get discarded and not recycled or reused in any way. I've been collecting them since I was a  small girl and the idea of having them just in albums is not appealing to me.
I think these cards turned out quite nice. They're listed in my Etsy shop.

Purple rain

It has been raining a lot this summer in Orlando, just as it should be. It's a rainy season after all, but after a few years of having dryer summers we got slightly unaccustomed to the daily downpours.
Our new grass is happy. This weekend is exactly four weeks since we installed our new sod, and it's growing like crazy. Today we'll mow it  for the first time.

I woke up this morning with a happy memory of a summer long ago when I was twenty years old, and the movie Purple Rain played in theaters. It is hard not to go back memory lane while listening to that song.

I created quite a few pieces of jewelry in purple shades, and I think they are quite summer oriented.
They would fit nicely with any light summer dress and sandals. My inspiration is a mix of the Anthropologie look, summer flowers, memories of my grandmother's designs and bohemian, gypsy flair.
